Mediha, a young Yazidi woman, is abducted and enslaved along with her brothers during the genocide perpetrated by Islamic State in 2014. After years in captivity, she returns to a refugee camp. Her parents and one brother remain missing. Using a handheld camera, Mediha begins filming her own journey back to life and her search for her mother. Hasan Oswald accompanies her sensitively through trauma, memory and hope, showing how she reclaims control over her own destiny.
A profoundly moving film that tells not only of unimaginable suffering but also of strength and the courage to go on living.
